Peace and Playlists: How You Can Take A Mental Break

There are plenty of things to take a break from.

It’s been heavy, y’all, I know you know it. We all need respite at some point. And even though times are rough for our country and the world right now, I tend to think that we even need a break from things we love. Caring for yourself is not selfish in the least. It’s important to have a clear head and heart to give/receive love, sort through situations and make an impact.

Let Music Take You Somewhere New…

There is power in music in multiple ways. Here are two…

  • It prompts you to chill. Many people just can’t fathom taking a break. It’s like there’s a constant sense of urgency and unrest that has many running at an artificial pace. The exhausting emphasis on doing the most doesn’t always leave much room for self care.
  • It makes you think about your connection with others. In order for our world to keep moving forward, we have to find common ground. And through music, we have that.

It might be full of songs you don’t know…but I hope you’ll give them a chance to help you relax. On the other hand, it might be full of songs you’ve already heard (especially if you hang around me for too long)…but I hope you’ll give it another listen. Music has so many layers, that’s the genius thing about it. Maybe a beat will get into your soul somehow, or a lyric will hit you differently than it did when we weren’t in these crazy times.
